We all love bread. For that reason, probably, it is the third most wasted food in households. As zero-wasters, we think this sucks. And even though we can’t save the world’s bread, we thought we might try to rescue our community’s bread and give it a new and tasty life. Enter the pangrattato.
Pangrattato has its roots in the Italian “Cucina Povera” and literally means “breadcrumbs” in Italian. Our Roots Radicals Pangrattato blends combine rescued but still wonderful (!) bread with an added kick from toasted nuts and seeds, a variety of herbs, and a tailored mix of our classic Roots spice blends. Use them to coat veggies or tofu before frying, add some extra crisp to any baked dish, or give salads a bit of welcome crunch.
